OSMOTASE

Enzymes are by definition a catalyst of biological processes, and has long been used in beamhouse processes within the leather production cycle. The results have often been unsatisfactory.

The action of the enzyme in soaking and liming should focus exclusively on the keratins of the bulb, promoting cleaning and hair loosening at the root, but given the non-specificity of the enzymes currently on the market (proteases) even the supporting structure of the hair, the collagen, is attacked. It is partly hydrolysed with the risk of obtaining poor grain skins with poor mechanical properties. If we add to this a low degree of preservation of the raw hides, the end result will be the solubilisation of most of the fibre.

 

OSMOTASE, innovative enzymatic liming agent with the addition of different more specific enzyme groups to unhair without damaging the collagen and leather grain. Both this special keratin blend and also the synergy effect of lipase enzymes are used.

This is a formula for success, enabling hair loosening, bulb cleaning, effective leather degreasing without using surfactant agents. Leather yield is enhanced without needing to resort to traditional anti-wrinkle agents.

Together with these leather quality features it must be pointed out that the COD and TKN charge are noticeably lowered.
